Jan Bringezu: “AI has long been part of our everyday life”

Artificial intelligence has already found its way into numerous companies. It offers enormous potential for innovation, particularly in specialised areas such as payment consulting. In this interview, Jan Bringezu, founder and Managing Director of Gravning GmbH, provides exciting insights into the various uses of AI in his company. From analysing large documents to supporting storytelling – AI is changing the way processes run and decisions are made. But what specific effects will the use of AI have in payment consulting? And how will it transform the industry in the coming years? Jan Bringezu shares his experiences and gives an outlook on future developments.

Editorial team: How do you use artificial intelligence in your company to drive innovation and optimise processes?

Jan Bringezu: I would like to make a fundamental distinction here between general engagement with AI and the actual use of AI. As a specialized payment consultancy, we are constantly analyzing and evaluating the possibilities of using AI in the payment environment, as well as the general development of machine learning and GenAI. And we encourage all our employees to try out AI, but ideally also to use it on an ongoing basis. And there are already a wide range of possible applications. From support with research activities and the rough analysis of larger legal or regulatory documents to impulses for storytelling, the use of AI is already part of our everyday work.

Editorial team: In which area of your industry do you see the greatest impact from the use of AI?

Jan Bringezu: The days when large consulting firms in particular were able to charge their clients for months of consultancy for data analyses and preparation are finally over. This task is still important, but can increasingly be taken over by AI. The expertise of the consulting firms and their employees and the skills to apply this expertise to the results of the AI analyses are moving to the centre of consulting (as they should always be).

Editorial team: How does the use of AI affect profitability and efficiency in your company?

Jan Bringezu: There are no figures on this yet, but I have a (reliable?) gut feeling. If I manage to use AI regularly, which I have to keep reminding myself of, then I realize that some tasks can be completed more quickly or that more impulses can be processed in the same amount of time, meaning that I can fulfill these tasks more efficiently. If you apply this effect to the team, then it may be that we can become more efficient overall and possibly also more profitable. Only time will tell.

Editorial team: How will the use of AI change your business model in the coming years?

Jan Bringezu: Project management and payment consulting will continue to form the foundation of our business models. In these two core areas, the topic of AI and its targeted use in payment will play an increasingly important role in terms of content, which is why we will build up and expand our expertise here in both breadth and depth. In addition, we are evaluating whether the combination of the technology behind AI with the diversity of the publicly available ‘payment database’ and our specific experience and skills could mean our entry into the product business.
